WWC Virtual Book Tour: Joe “Silly” Sottile

On the Go with Children’s Author …Joe “Silly” Sottile

Joe “Silly” Sottile loves performing poetry for kids and adults. He performed poetry in over 100 schools in the Rochester area and beyond. He always enjoys himself immensely, and it’s written all over his face as he acts out his own poetry from Waiting for the Principal and Other Poems. The audience is thrilled to chant back memorable lines that are repeated in his poems. Joe truly believes that poetry is one of the major keys to unlocking literacy in schools today. Joe couples his reading performance with sidebars about “following your dream” and “writing from your heart.”

His fees are reasonable, and he usually agrees to follow wherever he is invited. On June 15th Joe visited two schools, Clifford Avenue School and Joseph Avenue School. Both are part of Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School system. Kids from grades K-7 were delighted by his performance in each school.

On November 3, 2012, Joe will be signing books and doing “A Slice of Silly Sottile’s Poetry” at Monroe Community College (from 10 am to 4 pm) with forty or more authors and illustrators. About 4,000 visitors usually show up for the Rochester Children’s Book Festival which was created by RACWI.

Now, don’t forget, Joe loves to do whole school presentations or just a few classes squeezed together. You can contact Joe on long or short notice, and then watch the magic happen. His website is filled with photos of happy times, while engaging in the Wonderful World of Poetry: www.joesillysottile.net.
