Let me just start out by saying if you are a boy or a man, be forwarned we are going to be discussing female products in detail so you may want to check out now.
As for the ladies, I have shared before about my experience with menstrual cups as well as cloth pads. Today, I share with you my new love for SckoonCup.
SckoonCup is a menstrual cup (to be used instead of tampons) designed for comfort.
I will tell you that I have tried 3 different brands of menstrual cups and by far, SckoonCup has been the most comfortable one I have used.
All 3 cups I have tried have been the same size. Two of them look very similar (but are two different brands) and do not look similar to SckoonCup.
SckoonCup is very smooth on the outside and softer to the touch than the other two. Of the 3, SckoonCup is definitely my first choice to use.
#2: Healthier Alternative & Safe
Not only are menstrual cups in general a healthier alternative to tampons (you don’t need to worry about toxic shock) but think about the money you spend on disposable tampons each month.
SckoonCup is made from a very soft medical grade silicone and is approved by the FDA, making is safe. I know my lady parts appreciate the smooth, softness of SckoonCup compared to tampons (which I have found that I have an allergy to the cardboard applicators).
#3: Money Saver
I know for me, my cycle is typically 7 days. Day 2 and day 3 are my worst and I go through a tampon every two to three hours. That alone is 24 tampons in 2 days! Imagine the money I am saving using a menstrual cup instead.
#4: Reusable & Environmentally Friendly
It even comes in a cute little pouch that you can keep your SckoonCup stored in while not on your period!
SckoonCup comes in 2 sizes – size 1 which is advised for women who have not previously given birth vaginally, are under the age of “30ish”, are a first time user, are fit, and have a slower flow.
Size 2 is advised for women who have given birth vaginally, are over the age of “30ish”, are considered plus size, and have a heavier flow.
The size 2 is slightly, slightly bigger than the size 1, but size 2 can hold up to 7mL more fluid than the size 2.
For me personally, I have given birth vaginally; am 31; am considered plus size; and have a heavy flow. A size 2 works great for me with SckoonCup.
There are holes around the ring of the actual SckoonCup that help keep the cup in place so you don’t feel like it’s falling out.
For me personally, I found this to be such a better alternative to tampons and it works! I have an extremely heavy flow on days 2 and 3 and decided to really put it to the test and was surprised at how well it fit and it worked! (Ask hubby – he thought I was a little strange!)
If you have been looking to use a menstrual cup, I highly recommend SckoonCup.
