Online Music Lessons with LessonFace

Disclosure: I was provided the opportunity to review LessonFace through Quality Blue Community. All opinions are 100% my own.

I am a very musical person. Growing up, I took guitar lessons and starting from sixth grade until I graduated, I sang in choir. Today, as an adult, I still love to sing and I wish more than anything I could play an instrument.

Fortunately, my love of music has been passed down to my kids.

Baby Girl, even at just over a year old, loves to dance along to music. We catch her “singing” in her own little language, and she is always beating on drums, a toy piano, or other musical noise making instrument.

Buddy likes to listen to music and dance, but doesn’t typically show any desire in a musical instrument.

Buggy on the other hand has all of us beat. Ever since she could talk and doodle on paper she has “written” songs. She loves to sing (and will tell you she is going to be a rockstar one day) and last year, decided she wanted to play guitar.

For Christmas, “Santa” brought her a guitar. It isn’t a “professional” guitar, but it is a functional, playing guitar that didn’t cost us an arm and a leg (she was informed that if she could show us she was responsible to take care of this less expensive guitar and show us she was serious in learning, we would give her my youth guitar that my dad purchased when I was her age).

When I received an email about
, I’m not sure who was more excited – me or Buggy!

LessonFace is an online music lesson site that is super easy to use and very reasonably priced.

Lessons are provided in various instruments and musical expertise ranging from guitars, strings, piano, woodwinds, percussion, voice, and even music writing (something we are looking into for Buggy to do!)

All lessons are taught online via their program that really is very similar to skyping.

The first lesson we hooked my netbook up to the television and let Buggy have her lesson. The set up was super easy and her instructor, Dr. Krout, was absolutely amazing! He was so kind and patient with our very inexperienced 8 year old.

After the lessons, he emailed me what they went over so that I could print them out for her to practice.

The next lesson was set up in the dining room with my netbook and a desktop monitor. (Forgive the picture… it was taken on my cell phone while trying not to disrupt the lesson!)

Buggy loved taking the lessons, we all loved the instructor, and I especially loved how convenient taking an online music class was.

We did say how it was difficult teaching guitar when trying to discuss hand placement, but I think Buggy did really well with Dr. Krout’s assistance.

I’ve researched a few different instructors and instruments to check out what is available and I am surprised at the reasonable cost of the instructors.

LessonFace is definitely something that we will be continuing for Buggy and maybe a few other family members in our home!
