Real Murder (A Lovers in Crime Mystery #2) by Lauren Carr {Book Review}

Disclosure: I received this book to review through iREAD BOOK TOURS, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

When Homicide Detective Cameron Gates befriends Dolly, the little old lady who lives across the street, she is warned not to get lured into helping the elderly woman by investigating the unsolved murder of one of her girls. “She’s senile,” Cameron is warned. “It’s not a real murder.”

Such is not the case. After Dolly is brutally murdered, Cameron discovers that the sweet blue-haired lady’s “girl” was a call girl, who had been killed in a mysterious double homicide.

Meanwhile, Prosecuting Attorney Joshua Thornton is looking for answers to the murder of a childhood friend, a sheriff’s deputy whose cruiser is found at the bottom of a lake. The deputy had disappeared almost twenty years ago while privately investigating the murder of a local prostitute.

It doesn’t take long for the Lovers in Crime to put their cases together to reveal a long-kept secret that some believe is worth killing to keep undercover.

My Review

Another amazing murder mystery from Lauren Carr. I cannot say enough good things about her books. I absolutely love them!

What started out as an old missing person cases turns into murders – plural – several murders.

One case turned into two pretty quickly which evolved in many, many more cases – some stemming all the way back to the sixties – to current time!

There were a lot of players involved, a lot of details, and I was worried that I was going to get lost in it all, but I was able to follow along.

I have said it before and I will say it again – to me, there is nothing better than a good “who done it” read and Lauren delivers that every time.

I had suspicions with one suspect that turned out to be correct. Something about that particular suspect rubbed wrong from the get go. I wondered about another guilty suspect and was completely blown away by the others. I had no idea! And really, my suspicions and wonders were clearly just hunches based on personality because I had zero evidence.

If you enjoy a good mystery that leaves you engaged and guessing – you must pick up any of Lauren’s books! You won’t regret it!
