Disclosure: I participated in a Blogger Activation on behalf of
for Stonyfield. I received coupons to facilitate my shopping trip and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

We don’t travel a ton, but when we do, it tends to be long road trips. So far, our longest road trip has been from Arizona to Minnesota and back… twice. Our shorter road trips are from Arizona to California and back… a few times now.

When traveling with kids, there are some definite travel must haves for kids!

Comfort

* Dress the kiddos in something comfortable when traveling for long periods. We try comfy pants or shorts, flip flops so they can kick them off to relax and slip them on when we stop, and a shirt comfortable enough for the weather.

* Pillow or pillow pet (they make great pillows for everyone, including mom!) Night time driving can be tough but if the kids can be comfy, its easier to fall asleep!

* Favorite blanket and stuffed animal. Our kids each have a special blanket they sleep with and a special stuffed animal they sleep with. Those items get special treatment in riding unpacked with the kids.

Activities

* Travel DVD players are amazing! We bring one with us and put the DVDs they pick out into a CD carrying case.

* Kid CDs. Chances are that where you are going, the radio is going to cut in and out. Our kids love to listen to

their

music.

* Coloring books and color crayons.

* Handheld games (if you have them). I must say though, this is a toss up. Sometimes the handheld electronics cause more issues!

* If you’re kids are a little bit older, road bingo cards!

* Books to read.

Miscellaneous

* Safety items: gallons of water, blankets, flash lights, flares. The safety essentials in case something happens with the car and you end up stranded.

* Car charger for your cell phone.

* Toilet paper – just in case.

* First Aid kit. I swear it never fails; the kids always manage to get hurt when we are away from a place that has first aid necessities.

* Non-perishable snacks such as crackers, bread, peanut butter, peanuts, pretzels, bananas, apples, oranges. Kid favorites that they can eat on the road when they are hungry or so that you have them on hand for the just in case.

* Drinks. We usually buy a cheap case of water to have on hand and then usually a drink or two for the kids to have. The more you bring with, the less you have to stop, but you want to refrain from overly sugary drinks. Squirrely kids contained in a car for a long trip… you do the math.

* A cooler filled with perishable items to snack on. For us, that would mean the baby’s milk, lunch meat (two thirds of my kids love to eat lunch meat plain so it’s a good protein snack), string cheese, and Stonyfield’s new products – YoBaby, YoToddler, and YoKid yogurt pouches; the first refrigerated organic yogurt pouch.

All of the
organic yogurt pouches contain pure organic ingredients and never any high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors.

My kids love yogurt (it’s a must have when we go grocery shopping) and they love anything that comes in a pouch so these yogurt pouches make the perfect snack for them – especially when we travel because the mess is contained in the pouch; no need for a spoon!

We have tried the Stonyfield pouches and all three of my kids love them – they devour them faster than I can get them open and they love all the flavors we have tried thus far! Even baby has liked all the flavors! We have tried strawberry banana, blueberry, and vanilla.

The pouches come in three stages – YoBaby, YoToddler, and YoKid. YoBaby and YoToddler are both made with organic whole milk. The YoBaby, as far as I can tell, come in mostly fruit with the exception of sweet potato and a vanilla/sweet potato blend. YoToddler are mostly fruits and vegetable blends (with the exception of Raspberry Pear and Strawberry Banana and include DHA. The YoKid is made with lowfat organic yogurt pouches that are only fruit.

We have not tried the YoToddler stage yet, but all three of my kids have eaten the YoBaby and the YoKids yogurt pouches (yes, the 8 and 5 year old had the baby stage and yes, the 14 month old had the kid stage). All I can say is that they can’t resist them (seriously, they don’t last very long in my house!)

And my favorite part as the grocery shopper in the family? Stonyfield makes it easy for you to locate the yogurts you wish to purchase using their easy
.

So tell me, what is your travel must haves for kids?
