Flares

I am a huge fan of Twitter.

If I had to pick my favorite social media, it would definitely be Twitter.

I love interacting with people in real time and getting to communicate with people on the opposite side of the world.

My favorite time to tweet is when I’m going to bed, which typically means that the other side of the world is getting up for their morning! It’s such a fun time to tweet!

However, as an avid user of Twitter, I have some Twitter Tips.

1.

Make sure you have a profile picture

. I know for me personally, I will not take time to look at your account if you do not have a profile image.

2.

Fill out your bio

. Tell me who you are. What do you do. What are you tweeting about. If I don’t see a bio that intrigues me to keep looking or that tells me who you are; I may not stop to even check out your feed.

3.

Don’t tweet the same tweet over and over and over again

. If I go to your feed and see a constant repeat of the same tweet, I won’t follow you. I want someone who is going to share interesting things or engage with me. If you don’t do either, it really is just a waste of my time.

4.

Engage

. I don’t mean a “thanks for following” or “thanks for the RT”. Those are nice, but seriously engage. Reply back to someone’s question. Make a comment on the image they tweeted. Shoot, just ask someone how they are doing! Engage with your followers.

5.

Don’t just post your own content

. Retweet others. Share others. I would venture to guess that majority of my feed is other people’s posts. The general rule for any social media – one of your personal posts to 5 of other people’s posts.

6.

Tweets with pictures

get seen a lot more than tweets without pictures so use pictures when you can!

Twitter can seem daunting, but it really isn’t. Just take some time to get to know the feel of it. Play with it and see what it does.

Once you start tweeting and engaging, I am sure you will find it to be fun and not overwhelming!
