I have a sleeping problem, blah, blah, blah. So I tend to lay in bed watching movies or television while hubby snores next to me. Well, a couple of nights ago, on one of the random movie channels, I came across The Tillman Story. I’m not sure how many of you know about Pat Tillman, but he was an Arizona Cardinals football player who “dropped everything” and enlisted in the Army after 9/11. Okay, great, dropped everything (lots of money, football career) to enlist. What about the other soldiers who enlisted after 9/11? Do they get a documentary too? Hell, we don’t even know their names.

Pat Tillman was shot while over seas from what they are calling “friendly fire”. Apparently, there is the theory that the military and the government is hiding this big ol’ conspiracy regarding his death. Again, okay, he was killed by one of his own. How many other soldiers have been killed by “friendly fire”? How many other soldiers are dead because of our corrupt government? Do they get a documentary as well?

Don’t get me wrong here. Anyone that enlists in the Army, military, what ever, and is deployed is a hero in my book. I could never do it and I give major credit to those that have- regardless of where they stand in society. I don’t care if you are a millionaire or a homeless person- you are my hero if you enlist and deploy. Period. HOWEVER, I do think it is unjust and unfair that Pat Tillman gets this documentary when there are hundreds and thousands of other soldiers that no one knows about. I mean, really? Okay, so Pat Tillman left his football career where he was getting paid lots of money to enlist and deploy. What about the dad who left his wife and children to enlist and deploy? What about the single mother who has family caring for her child while she enlists and deploys? They are all just as important.

“Well the conspiracy of hiding up the ‘friendly fire’.” You’re going to tell me he is the only soldier to have been killed by friendly fire!? What about the rest of them?

I am just upset that as a typical society, the famous get all the attention while the others get nothing. What about the other heros? Where is their recognition?
