Heart of Haiti “Trade, Not Aid” Campaign
The
are working together with two campaigns (Heart of Haiti and Rwanda Path to Peace) that help countries be able to sell goods and become self sufficient instead of having to accept aid.
Life as Leels is fortunate enough to help participate in the Heart of Haiti campaign.
Heart of Haiti was launched by artist and social entrepreneur, Willa Shalit, The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and Macy’s. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and despite the devastating earthquake, people there are filled with hope and a desire to improve their lives through employment. The Heart of Haiti initiative provides artists with an opportunity to make a living feed their families and pay their children’s school fees. Already, The Heart of Haiti collection has led to employment of 750 artists in Haiti providing financial benefits for an estimated 5,000 people in the country.
The collection features more than 40 home decor items including quilts, metalwork, ceramics, and paintings. The craftsmanship and technique behind these works of art, ranging from papier-mâché vases to hand cut metal frames & wall hangings, is truly remarkable. The collection is made almost entirely from recycled and sustainable items such as old cement bags, cardboard, oil drums & local gommier wood. Sharing a “gift that gives back” is a great way to raise awareness and celebrate artistry and regrowth. Heart of Haiti products are available exclusively at 25 Macy’s stores around the country and on Macy’s.com.
At Everywhere, we are truly committed to this project. We believe every blog post, every mention, every tweet builds awareness so we appreciate your support.

As part of the Heart of Haiti campaign, I received this beautiful, handmade in Haiti, horn stretch bracelet (please note that I was informed that the horn used to create these beautiful bracelets were made from cow horns and were from animals that were used for consumption).
I promise you, this picture does not do it any kind of justice what so ever. It really was difficult to get a good image of this to show it’s true beauty.
It is a stretch bracelet and fit my wrist without any issue. The different colors in the horn used to create the bracelet made it all the more beautiful.
I cannot say enough about this beautiful piece of jewelry and the benefits behind the Heart of Haiti campaign.
The Noise Girls have teamed up to work with the Heart of Haiti campaign as well as the Rwanda Path to Peace campaign. You can see their reviews here:
