Did you know that you could be losing money all because you are missing a vital piece of information from your home page?
It is true.
As someone who hops around a lot of blogs, I can tell you there is nothing I hate more (and PR agencies hate too) is not being able to contact you via social media or email.
Having no email and/or no social media follow buttons on your homepage is hindering you! It makes contacting you impossible and means that either I – or the PR agency – are moving on to the next blog.
The second worst thing – not having social media sharing buttons on your post!
How can you gain more readers if someone cannot share your posts with social media?
I hate (seriously hate) finding a great post that I know my readers would love or a friend would enjoy, but there are no social media share buttons on the post for me to share!
Now grant you, if I am on the computer, I can easily copy and paste the link and share it; but I do a lot of my social media time in bed before going to sleep. That is when I am engaging on Twitter and Pinterest. When I am blog hopping.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t have a fancy phone that easily does that copy/paste business to be able to copy the blog post link, close whatever program I am in, open the next program, and paste in the link. (Seriously? That is far too much work for me, none the less a reader!)
This mini challenge will help ensure that not only are you reachable – but that readers can share your posts gaining you new readers and attention!
MINI CHALLENGE
1. If you are on WordPress, install a plug in such as Simple Social Icons which will place social media icons on your front page.
After it is installed and activated, head into your widgets and place the Simple Social Icon box into a widget box.
From there, it will open up and allow you to input your social media links.
(I am not sure if there is something like this to use for Blogger – it has been a long time since I was on Blogger. I know when I was, my designer provided me buttons that she linked to with my design.)
2. Include a text widget near your social media buttons and type in your email address so that it is noticeable on your homepage.
3. Install a plug in such as Flare, Shareholic, etc. so that you have social media share buttons on your posts! (Be sure to put your Twitter handle in the option for the Twitter share so it doesn’t tweet out @shareaholic!)
Be sure to leave me a comment after you do the mini challenge (or leave me a comment if you already have social media buttons and social media share buttons) – I’ll stop by and share your post!
