Day 4: Your views on religion.

Wow! This challenge deal is getting more complicated as I go!

Today’s challenge is my views on religion.

A part of me says “finally, I can share what I think”, but another part of me says “really? I have to bring this up?”

I consider myself “unique” when it comes to “religion”. I am not a religious person. I am spiritual. I do not believe in segregated religions. I think they are a crock. Really. I mean let’s be honest. The core of most religions is the belief in a Higher Power. Grant you, we do not all have the same figure as our Higher Power, but the core of our beliefs in religion is some Higher Power. So why does one religion get to judge another individual or religion when the basis of everything is the same. Why does one religion have so many rules to follow?

I was talking to my husband the other night and get very upset about some religious things that are occurring and I was nearly in tears I was so upset. One, we have a local church that is being sexist. Come on- we are in the year 2011. Women have fought hard to get our rights and now a church is being sexist! Then there is the fact that some religions are SO judgmental. I mean really, who are you to judge me or anyone else? You are not my Higher Power, I do not answer to you. You are not allowed to judge me because when you do, chance are, you are being hypocritical.

So, with all that said off my chest, I apologize if I offended anyone, but I am not a religious person. I am a spiritual person. I have my own Higher Power who I prefer to call God. I do not believe in the devil or hell. I believe there is a Heaven or some sort of after life. I do not know what that is, but I do know it exists. I also know that if it wasn’t meant to be- it wouldn’t exist. Clearly, everything happens for a reason. If it was not meant to exist or to be, it wouldn’t be.
