School around here has already started. My kids went back Wednesday the 7th and that was late for Arizona!
With school started or starting, I want to share some great tips and resources this week to make back to school a little less stressful for mom and dad!
I don’t know about you, but I have never been a fan of back to school shopping. In fact, I hate shopping in general. And as a parent, I despise back to school shopping but more or less because schools down here tend to not give out the school supply list until the night before.
Lucky for me, kindergartners don’t require supplies (other than optional items to donate to the class such as hand sanitizer, kleenex and snacks) and I had some of the supplies needed for my second grader.
Fortunately for me, I plan ahead with these budget friendly back to school supply tips:
–
Stock up on the basics all year round!
Back to school supply sales start in July here in Arizona because a lot of schools start in July. There are sales when school starts, but there are also lower sale prices in September after all the schools have started. Stock up on notebooks, folders, pencils, etc. then. Growing up, my mom had a wrapping paper tote under the bed fully stocked year round with the basics!
–
Price Match!
If you bring the ad into Wal-mart, you can price match. Also, keep in mind who has better sales and when. I know when it comes to school supplies, Wal-mart is always the better deal for supplies!
–
Watch for the Back to School sales!
We were able to get the kids new sneakers and new backpacks at great deals because of back to school sales.

This year,
teamed up with Wal-mart for their “Underwear for Overachievers” program!
Fruit of the Loom products – undershirts, underwear and socks – had bonus packs so instead of 5 pairs of underwear for Buddy, he got 8 and instead of 9 pairs of underwear for Buggy, she got 12!
Oh, and the same for socks (I believe undershirts/t-shirts as well, but Buddy doesn’t wear those so I didn’t even think to look!) Both Buddy and Buggy got new pairs of socks and instead of 10 packs, they were bonus packs with 3 extra pairs making it 13 pairs for the regular price of 10!
Thanks to the help of Fruit of the Loom and Wal-mart, back to school supply shopping was a breeze, and the kids got all their essentials for their first day of school (pictures of that to come later this week!)
BONUS:
I am giving one lucky reader a $75 Wal-mart gift card to help with their back to school supply shopping!
