Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Dreyer’s Ice Cream and The Motherhood. I was provided with product coupons and compensated for my time, but all opinions are 100% my own.

Pssst… did you know that July is Ice Cream month!?

National Ice Cream Day is July 21st

(be sure to mark your calendars so you have a legit excuse to eat ice cream all day!)

I don’t know about you, but frankly, every day is ice cream day. Okay, okay. Maybe not

every day

, but every month is! I love ice cream!

Dreyer’s Ice Cream currently has limited edition ice cream flavors and has teamed up with Operation Smile, so before I side track you with the deliciousness of Dreyer’s Limited Edition Ice Cream flavors, let me share this awesome cause!

A Reason to Smile

Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that helps make 500 reconstructive surgeries possible for children around the globe suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.

I have had the privilege in my 30 years of life to meet 2 little boys with cleft lip who have had the opportunity to receive reconstruction (not through Operation Smile) and I know they support Operation Smile which is a charity I can stand behind and fully support!

Since May 15th, Dreyer’s Ice Cream has been posting content on their
encouraging fans to help the brand donate to Operation Smile.

Each uniquely stamped “A Reason to Smile” post features a different method of participation (such as liking and sharing to commenting). They have been creating personalized opportunities for their fans and readers (you and me) to engage with the cause and help Dreyer’s reach their goal of up to $125,000! (The campaign will run through September 31, 2013.)

And now Dreyer’s Ice Cream…

The kids and I were able to try four of Dreyer’s limited edition ice creams:

“Take the Cake”

– A yellow cake-flavored light ice cream with a frosting swirl and multi-colored sprinkles. It’s the classic combination of cake and ice cream in one convenient carton. (Available in Slow Churned Light Ice Cream)

NEW “

German Chocolate Cake Spectacular!”

– If you froze a German Chocolate Cake and then exploded it into a carton of chocolate ice cream, you’d end up with this amazing limited edition flavor. Chocolate ice cream with a caramel coconut swirl and brownie pieces. (Available in Grand Ice Cream and Slow Churned Light Ice Cream.)

NEW

“Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel”

– Salty, sweet and oh so scrumptious. Vanilla ice cream with a salted caramel swirl and pretzel pieces. (Available in Grand Ice Cream and Slow Churned Light Ice Cream.)

“3 Stripes You’re Out”

– America’s Favorite Pastime has a new favorite flavor! Vanilla Ice Cream with Mixed Blueberry and Strawberry Swirls. (Available in Grand Ice Cream.)

The limited edition flavors all come in Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream (with the exception of “3 Stripes You’re Out” which is only available in Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream) meaning they are all the taste and 1/2 the fat and 1/3 fewer calories than regular ice cream! (And while I wasn’t able to find all of our flavors at my store in slow churned, we were able to try the Slow Churned “Take the Cake” and I will vouch that you cannot tell a taste difference at all!)

Additionally, Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream is available in more than 20 iconic ice cream flavors – from Mint Chocolate Chip (a personal fave of mine) to Rocky Road – the Slow Churned brand is quickly becoming a better-for-you, family favorite, found in freezers across the country.

The kids loved that we got to have a big taste test with the ice cream!

“Take the Cake” was liked all the way across the table. It was one that I felt would have to be consumed in small quantities at a time (it was slightly sweeter than I like in one sitting, but I am not much of a sweets person) but Buddy loved it and ate an entire bowl to himself.

“German Chocolate Cake Spectacular” was far too coconutty to me. Hubby – who is not a big chocolate or ice cream fan (but his favorite cake is german chocolate) felt it was too chocolatey for him. Buddy could care less and Buggy ate an entire bowl.

“Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel” neither kid had much of a preference and hubby thought it was too salty (odd coming from the man who salts EVERYTHING!) I, on the other hand, placed this at the top of one of my favorites. I thought it had the perfect combination of salty and sweet.

“3 Stripes You’re Out” was my second favorite and hubby’s overall favorite. Again, the kids didn’t have a preference.

It was a great night spending time together as a family trying out and eating our new favorite ice cream flavors – and for a great cause too!

So tell me, what is YOUR favorite flavor of ice cream?
