Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of
for Avocados from Mexico. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
Lil Miss is 4 months old and will be 5 months old before I know it (time is just flying by!) That means that we will be making baby food very soon.
This time around, I plan on making our own baby food rather than purchasing store bought baby food (the oldest two had store bought baby food so I am not judging anyone for their choice. I just want to make Lil Miss her own food here at home, mainly because I can.)
We learned with Buddy that avocados are a great first food for babies because they are naturally smooth and because they contain the healthy fat that growing babies need.
I have to admit, we have already snuck Lil Miss a taste of avocado and she enjoys them! And I love that I do not necessarily need anything to prep avocado for her consumption – we just smash it up with a spoon and she’s ready to go!
I can’t wait to add some fruits into her avocados to give her an all around healthy meal for her to enjoy!
So I have to make a slight, small confession.
Aside from my father in law’s delicious guacamole; I personally have never eaten avocado!
I’m not entirely sure why, but nothing about it appeals to me so I’ve never eaten one. In fact, I just tried my father in law’s guacamole a year or two ago (prior to then I refused to eat it!)
I am a very picky eater, but I was also raised to try everything at least once so I have to say that I am happy to have found the Avocados from Mexico Community!
You have to register for this community, but (a) it’s free and (b) it literally took seconds to click a button that said “sign up”. No joke. That easy.
The first thing that popped up when I registered were recipes. Holy guacamole (pun intended)! Recipes after recipes that include avocados!!!
The recipes range from breakfast, appetizers, guacamole (so I can learn to make my own and not rely on my father in law!), main dishes, Mexican inspired and even desserts (I’m sorry but I would never have put avocado and dessert in the same sentence before!)
They had cakes, ice cream, aioli, and even avocado deviled eggs! Seriously! The recipes on the community recipe page was insane, but I cannot wait to try some of them out! They actually looked appetizing and I think every couple weeks I will try a new recipe from there and have to share with you (so be on the look for new avocado included recipes from us!)
And my favorite part of the recipes – you can upload, share, pin, tweet, “like” the recipes; you can print the recipes (I know one of my readers in particular will like that feature!); and you can add the ingredients for a recipe to a shopping list that you can then email or print (I love that I can email it to myself so I can just check the email on my phone while I’m out!)
After prying my eyes from the recipes, I wandered around the community and found their blog; their “channel” which featured a bunch of different videos for new and unique ways to use avocados; downloads where you can download gifts, wallpapers and screensavers, or my favorite – a nifty little ring tone that had me dancing in my seat; the Avocados from Mexico store (so if you see me cruising around with a cute “I love Avocados” tote bag you’ll know where it came from); sites they love; their chef’s corner where you can “meet” their chefs and find some of their recipes; and their promotion page which featured another recipe for me to try!
And then (yes there is more) I landed on the “home” page which had even more great features. My favorite on the home page – healthy living because right there, in writing, is my proof that avocados should be baby’s first food because of all the nutrients. (You can find it under healthy living and then baby and toddlers). It even gives me tips on how to store them for Lil Miss!
There is so much to learn on the Avocados from Mexico’s community plus promotions to win fun prizes!
Go ahead, visit the Avocados from Mexico community and tell me
