I received the Bad Mommy of the

Year

Day Award yesterday afternoon. I wasn’t sure if I should be upset or embarrassed! I think even today, I’m a little bit of both. I am sad that I did this and am very embarrassed for doing this.

My daughter is in kindergarten. It is my first child in school. She started school and they go Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 7:45am until 2:15pm. Wednesdays she attends 7:45am until 1:45pm. I only do drop off and pick up on Monday and Friday; hubby does pick up on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Christmas vacation began December 20th and she returned to school on January 4th from 7:45am until the early dismissal of 1:45pm. She attended Thursday and Friday 7:45am until 2:15pm. I picked her up Friday as usual.

Yesterday- Monday, mind you- I dropped her off for her 7:45am start time. I scheduled and prepared my work day to leave at 2pm to get to her school in time to pick her up at 2:15pm. I got a call from the school at 1:30pm reminding me that school got out at

1:15pm all week for conferences

! My poor little girl had to sit in the office for a half hour because I forgot to pick her up! I could not- still cannot- believe I forgot to pick her up! I felt so bad.

Fortunately for me though, she informed me that another kid from the other kindergarten class was waiting with her. And a few of my mommy friends have assured me it has happened to them so I don’t feel AS bad, but I still feel bad. Have you ever forgotten to pick up your child!?
