Being a Mommy

Being a Mommy

When I had my daughter, nobody told me I would just sit there and stare at her for hours watching the wheels in her little baby head turn.

Nobody told me that I would be jealous when she fell asleep in someone else’s arms and not my own… or that I would pray for the day she would talk (or the day she would stop talking!).

Nobody told me what a smile she can put on my face or how much she would be just like me.

Nobody told me how exhilarating it is when they learn to read and write and all the other fun learning things that come with growing up.

When I had my son, nobody told me that he would grow up saying that he loved me and that I was beautiful.

Nobody told me he would ask me to marry him at the age of 3.

Nobody told me that my favorite part of the day would be when he crawls into my lap… or when he can’t sleep at night so he makes me hold him until he falls asleep across my chest.

Being a mommy, nobody told me how perfect my little babies would be whether they were babies or 6 years old.

Nobody told me how rewarding being a mommy could be (or how frustrating at times).

Nobody told me that my heart could hold as much love as it does… or that I would fall completely head over heels in love with the two most wonderful little people in the world.

Nobody told me that being a mommy would be the most tiring job, but the best job in the world and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
