What is Alexa?

Simply put, the Alexa Traffic Rank will show how popular the site is compared to yours, including Reach, Pageviews and more (or how popular your site is compared to others!) For example, Google is ranked #1. They are the most popular website on the internet. You want to get as close to Goolge in rank as you can!

When you first start your blog and add the toolbar (scroll down further to find out how to install the toolbar), you may notice that your Alexa rank is not available or it’s in the millions. When I transferred my blog from Blogspot to WordPress, my Alexa rank was in the 4 million! My current Alexa rank is below 150,000! (Again, I will share with you

Please note, your Alexa rank may fluctuate up and down over time. The way I like to think of it is that we can’t all be #1 so if I slack on my work, someone is going to steal my spot and I’m going to be bumped to a higher number. If I do my work, I’m bumping someone out of theirs!

How to Get Alexa

Head on over to the

. Follow the directions. If you complete it successfully, you should notice an ‘A’ in a blue circle up in your browser toolbar.

How to Lower Your Alexa Rank

My favorite- Alexa hops! They are blog hops that you link your blog up to and visit other blogs. When you visit the other blogs, take the time to click through their posts. Spend time on the pages. This allows for their Alexa rank to lower and they will be doing the same to your blog, in turn, lowering your Alexa rank.
