Hopefully the second time is a charm (I wrote this entire post, posted it, drafted two posts, come back and nothing!)
There is no picture right now, but I will work on getting one soon! Promise!
Yesterday I had a 17 week check up. It’s the first check up in 5 weeks due to the transferring doctor drama. I must say, the new doctor office is amazing! I really enjoyed my visit there!
We finally got to hear the heartbeat so I was (and still am) on cloud 9 with that! The heartbeat was 147 which tells me boy, but we will find out for sure when we go back in 3 weeks for the gender ultrasound!
Unfortunately, I have PUPPPs again. PUPPPs, or pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy, or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, is a skin rash that consists of lots of bumps that itch like crazy! I had them during my first pregnancy, but was spared during my second pregnancy. When I had them previously, the doctor had to prescribe me steroid cream and it was the only relief I had. At that time, the bumps were all over my tummy. Now, I have them no where on my tummy, but on my upper thighs and upper arms – and they itch like crazy! If they aren’t better by my next visit, I will be asking for the steroid cream again as I have already itched some of them into scabs!
Interestingly, my doctor was surprised because it is so early. Some of my readings indicated that PUPPPs don’t occur until third trimester and I’m only in my second. Also, my readings stated that it usually occurs in the first pregnancy, but is unusually for it to occur in subsequent pregnancies (just my luck, I’d get it twice! I’m probably one that would catch the chicken pox again too!)
I have been extremely overtired as well so I will have them check my iron at my next visit as I did suffer from low iron in my second pregnancy. So I’m adding that to my list of things to discuss with doctor!
Other than that, all is well. Baby is doing well. Quite active. I secretly loved the heartbeat finding game (that took the poor nurse well over 5 minutes to locate). Every time she would find the baby, you would hear
swoosh
and baby moved. I was just grateful to finally be able to hear a viable heartbeat!
Only 22 weeks left! (But who’s counting, right!?)
