I must admit; I am not a huge fan of snacks. My kids on the other hand, have been taught by various family members that it is okay to not eat actual meals, but to “graze” on snacks throughout the day. (I was raised that you eat 3 meals a day, not snack all day.) So when it comes down to it, I don’t typically purchase snacks for our home. Hence the reason,
saved the day!
Okay, okay. Maybe that isn’t entirely true. I do try to keep some sort of granola or protein type bar hidden in the house for just in case situations like when…
…the kids come home from school starving because they “didn’t have time” to finish their lunch. You know the time. They blame it on every one else but when you finally get down to it, it was because they were too busy talking to actually eat their lunch.
…the time everyone was starving, but it was grocery day so there was no food in the house and dad was at work with the only running car so you were stuck.
…the time your friend called to drag your big butt to Zumba class even though you hadn’t eaten all day, but knew if you went on an empty stomach; you would be sick.
…the time you tell hubby to grab everyone a quick bite to eat because you all have to walk out the door to do something and said something will run over into dinner time so instead of listening to kids whine that they are hungry; you think to feed them a small early meal to hold them over until you’re done. But he didn’t listen.
…every day your kids act like they are starving to death and its the end of the world.

Keeping a healthy snack option available for emergencies such as the ones above clearly is not an option in my home – it’s a must.
My kids devoured the four kinds we had and I know that I will definitely be stocking up on more to keep stashed away!
