Disclosure: I was compensated in exchange for this post.
Being a mom is hard work! We are always on the go, running around, taking care of the family, shuttling the kids. Go, go, go. My phone is my mobile everything to keep me organized and store everything I need. Hence, these must have parent apps!
Google Calendar
– Don’t get me wrong. I am a planner girl. I love my planner. But I also use Google calendar. And so does hubby. We can put important appointments, dates, information into the Google calendar and we both can be aware of what is going on.
Email
– If you are a working mom of any sort or need access to your email for important information throughout the day; ensuring you have an adequate email app is important. I love my Google email app. It makes my life so much easier. (And is much better than the provided phone one!)
P Tracker
– This one is for the moms, but is so important. Do you ever end up at a doctor appointment (for yourself) and they want to know when your last cycle was? Well, here you go. The nice thing is that you can set up a free account so when you switch phones and have to put the app back on to your phone; all you have to do is log in and your information returns.
You can keep track of when your cycle starts, ends, when you are initmate as well as other female “symptoms” (if you are a familiar with natural family planning methods, you will know what I am speaking of.)
I also like it because it tracks everything for you so it gives me a guesstimate of my most fertile times as well as when I can expect my next cycle.
Plant Nanny
– Even on the go, we need to ensure we stay hydrated. Plant Nanny will help you do just that!
Instagram
– I don’t care who you are. I think everyone should have Instagram. I love using it to keep up with cute pictures of friends and their families! Plus, it’s a good way to get inspiration, shop, and feel motivated!
Pinterest
– Ready for this? I don’t typically use my Pinterest app to “browse” Pinterest. I use it at the grocery store when I go: “oh wait, what ingredients are in that dish” so I can buy said ingredients while at the grocery store. It has saved me more than once!
Amazon Kindle
– Okay, this app is not “new” to me, but the concept behind the entire app is new to me. When you are sitting in the school pick up/drop off line; when you are sitting at an appointment waiting for that doctor you are going to see for five minutes – pick up your phone and read a book! Take some you time! It is so nice to have it on hand to just pick up and read when trying to pass wasted time! (And if you are a Kindle reader, both your Kindle and your phone app sync so you won’t lose your spot!)
– Are you like me and love taking pictures of your kids with your phone and then they just sit there? And then you get a new phone and forget all about those pictures on your old phone until you realize months later that the picture of Joey on his new bike that you told a friend they should purchase for their kid is still sitting on your old phone. Just sitting. Collecting virtual dust? (I beg you to tell me I’m not the only one!)
I started using a “back up” system that would upload my pictures automatically to an internet based storage so I could still pull them up on my phone or on my desktop. Unfortunately, said system has decided to no longer work. (I don’t know details. I just know it has told me several times it’s no longer working.) Fortuntely, The Motherhood and MiMedia came at the exact moment.
is a personal cloud to store our digital items – pictures, videos, music, documents, etc. Plus, it’s accessible on all your devices – tablets, phones, desktops, etc. And personally, I find it pretty easy to use.
Since I have never used MiMedia before, I signed up for my account and then asked that it automatically send my photos to my MiMedia account. (All these photos are eating my memory!) Once I set that up, it started uploading all of my images automatically, whenever I am connected via Wi-Fi (the setting I picked.)
is considered safe and secure and allows you to choose the settings on your storage on an item by item basis. They also have MiDrive which is a safe, private, and easy way to share with family and friends. (After last night, I really hope it is secure because our mom’s night out dinner got a little SnapChat crazy!)
What does MiMedia do to protect information?
Privacy and security are paramount to our company. We employ the best, latest and greatest defense technology out there. We encrypt on the transmission side so when you’re sharing things all of that information is encrypted. And we encrypt on the server side, as well, so your content on our back end is encrypted. No MiMedia employees can see your content!
MiMedia makes it very transparent with how this system works and how the consumer can use it, because security starts with the consumer. We try to make it easy for you to choose and to understand what content you are putting out there. In addition to the great technologies, we have major companies, like Dell, helping us on this front.

I love that I can upload everything no matter where I am. It is always with me and I’m not worried about all of my photos being stuck on my phone! Not to mention, being able to store pictures and documents helps me tons as a blogger and working!
