My daughter has been involved in church programs for the past three years. In September, we signed my son up for his first year (he is 3 years old). He went the first two weeks just fine, no problem and then all of a sudden he began refusing to go. He is on this kick that he hates it, he hates the kids, and the kids think he is stupid!? Fortunately, hubby overheard our daughter saying it so it was more monkey see, monkey do. I didn’t give it much thought about my daughter saying that until tonight…
Apparently my daughter fell on the playground after school and scraped up her chin. Daddy put a band-aid on it to stop the bleeding and all of a sudden this evening, she starts freaking out and crying that we think she is a dork and that all of her friends are going to think she is a dork because she has a band-aid on her chin! She is 5 years old!?!? Why is she developing a complex already!? We try so hard to reassure her that people will not think negatively of her and that people like her, but it just causes her to freak out even more and then she says that WE- her parents of all people- think negative about her (tonight we thought she was a dork- in her head mind you). She is far too young to be developing any sort of complex already. And sadly, one of the things she told me was that “Aiden, Hector, and Kody didn’t care when I got hurt”. Really!? We care what the boys at school think!?
She is a very social, outgoing little girl who has no conflicts making friends and as far as I know, has made nothing but friends at school. Why are we being so self conscious all of a sudden and so young!? Is this normal!?!?
When it comes to mean kids, maybe they dont have the best home environment and it could be that they are jealous of your daughter for one reason or another.
