My Review

If you are a reader of my reviews, you know this isn’t my typical read. You also know that I judge books mainly on the covers before deciding if I should read them or not.

This is not my usual read and I have to be honest, the cover of the book didn’t jump out at me and scream “read me” but the title did.

Being Unapologetic.

Yes. Please.

I’m glad I picked up this book – it relit a fire in me that I have been missing. It motivated me to start – restart – doing what I love and working towards my dreams. It reminds me of who I am, who I have always been, what I have always wanted to do. Somewhere along the way, I veered off path, but

Being Unapologetic

reminded me of who, what, where I am, have been, and want to go.

Rarely do I read a book that I feel pushes me in the direction that I need to be pushed. Not just a nudge, but a shove. A reminder that “hey, you were on this path, you went astray, get back to it. Believe in yourself.”

This isn’t a book that you can sit down, read, and be done. Oh no. This is a book that – first off – if you can sit down and read in one go through, congratulations. I kept stopping to work on things. Go back and re-read things. Go back and highlight things. Shoot. I got this in Kindle format and need to get a paperback copy so I can keep it on hand and highlight and work through continuously. And when I say “work through” – it’s not ‘work’. It’s going back to who I was as a person. Who I am. Who I let myself get away from and to work towards a goal I have always had.

If you can’t tell, this book got me fired up. In a positive and passionate way. I cannot wait to continue using this book as a guide and work towards the me that I veered away from and the goals I had in life.

I’m currently looking for teachers and students who are up to big things – with big dreams. I’m going to start locally, in San Diego (before I expand to include the whole country, and the world!). I want to get to know the students and teachers, work with them to start empowering them to fund their dream project (Hey, 10 years as a music teacher myself, I learned a few things about fundraising, building community, and creating big impact) and then surprising them with an experience that is very personalized and unique.
