Copycat Culver’s Colby Jack Pub Burger
Growing up back home in Minnesota, Culver’s was the place to go for custard. I don’t think I ate anything else at the Culver’s back home. Just custard because that’s what is famous for.
When we finally got a Culver’s here in Arizona, I was excited to not only eat their custard again, but they have cheese curds! (Hey, a MN girl living in AZ without cheese curds is a sin!)
Somehow, I have found myself eating food other than custard at Culver’s and recently, a new favorite is their Colby Jack Pub Burger. Unfortunately, my pocket book (and my arteries) can’t afford to eat at Culver’s all the time, so we made our own “copycat” for us to eat occasionally here at home.
Ingredients:
Hamburger patties
Hamburger buns (preferably the onion buns)
Steakhouse Sandwich Shop Mayo
Colby Jack Cheese slices
1 medium sweet onion, peeled
2 eggs
Milk
2 cups flour
Salt
Pepper
Seasoning Salt
Directions:
For the onions:
Slice onion into thin rings.
Dip into a dry batter (2 cups flour, salt, pepper, and seasoning salt).
Dip into a wet batter (2 eggs and a splash of milk).
Dip a second time into the dry batter.
Deep fry.
Grill burgers to your desired liking.
Assemble the burger:
We put the Sandwich Shop mayo on our buns, place the burger, colby jack cheese, and top with the fried onions.
Serve with fries, tator tots, salad, baked beans, or any other desired side dish and enjoy!
