Another amazing mystery book by author Lauren Carr. I am telling you now; I am going to start from book 1 and go through all of her books one day to get the entire story! Read why below!
Disclosure: I received this book to review through iREAD BOOK TOURS, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.
It’s a bittersweet reunion for Mac Faraday when members of his former homicide squad arrive at the Spencer Inn. While it is sweet to attend the wedding of a former colleague’s daughter, it is a bitter reminder that the mother of the bride had been the victim of a double homicide on her own wedding night.
The brutal slaying weighing heavy on his mind, Mac is anxious to explore every possibility for a break in the cold case—even a suggestion from disgraced former detective Louis Gannon that one of their former friends was the killer.
When the investigator is brutally slain, Mac Faraday rips open the cold case with a ruthless determination to reveal which of his friends was a cold-blooded murderer.
Right before reading this book, I had read and reviewed book 1 in the Mac Faraday series. Let me say – Lauren Carr made huge writing strides between the two books and this book was an amazing read.
After looking at all the series and all of the books she has written, they do not go in order and they intertwine. I am definitely going to go back to book 1 of all her writing and read through all of them – in order. That is how much I enjoy Lauren’s mystery writing.
I was excited to see Chris Matheson in this book (who I met when I read his books from his own series).
This story line was much easier to follow and not as chaotic as book 1 in the Mac Faraday series and I though I was on such a good track to figure out the killer, but dang – I was wrong. In fact, I was way off. The real killer never even registered on my radar! But that is what I feel makes an amazing mystery read.
The book has plenty of suspects to choose from, a lot of suspense, and enough to keep me involved in the crime trying to figure it out right along Mac and David.
I highly recommend any of Lauren’s mysteries but I am telling you – start at book 1 and just keep going! I cannot wait to do that myself!! Do not miss these books!
