Day 9: If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

Honestly, my newest goal is to achieve this dream.

I would love, love, love to open an outreach program for suicide survivors.

My main goal of this would be that when police, fire, emergency crews are called out to a suicide situation, I (or my staff) would be called out to support the family during this time. Whether it be just to hold the family up, to provide some type of counseling, to help with any arrangements, etc.

The initial starting point would be to have someone hold them up during the first 24 hours of loss. I would also like to extend it to being able to provide grief counseling or other services as needed after those first 24 hours.

Losing someone to suicide is so different than just losing someone. If you are going through this for the first time and do not have support of others who understand, it can be a difficult journey.

While my dream is to never have to hear about someone completing suicide again, realistically, that won’t happen so I would like to be one to support those who are left behind to deal with the loss.
