We like to get out and do things with our kids, but when we do, it’s usually something inexpensive like going to the mall to walk around and play or going to the park or heading to McDonald’s for dinner and play. We don’t really consider it “date night” because it’s nothing special. It’s just family time. But this past week, we got to go on two really awesome date nights as an entire family.
Wednesday night we went to Disney on Ice. The kids had a blast and so did we.
Then, last night, we got to attend Monster Energy Supercross!
Are seats were awesome! We were in the bleachers (perfect when you have kids) and in row 27 just to the side of turn 1!
The kids were utterly amazed.
Buggy (age 8) thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Buddy (age 5) enjoyed it although he got bored around race 5 (out of 10). Lil Miss (10 1/2 months old) seemed to enjoy herself. The only parts that even remotely startled her were the fireworks, but she ended up falling asleep and napping during the fireworks and slept through most of it! When she was awake, she was alert and watching the riders.
I was worried that it might be too loud for her, but it really wasn’t all that loud. I was more concerned about the air than the noise (breathing in all the exhaust fumes).
My favorite part of the night was when they introduced rider Chad Reed and he rode around the arena with his little son behind him, riding his own dirt bike! It was the cutest (and I wish I had video of that, but I don’t!)
There were lots of crashes and overall, it really was a memorable night for the whole family! I actually even caught video of one of the crashes. If you watch, I follow the leader around the arena. Just before the leader goes through the finish gate, you can see a rider fly through the air.
It was such a great night that I will definitely take the kids back in the future! And we are even taping the race so we can watch anything we missed from our seats!
Are you a Supercross fan? Who’s your favorite rider?
PS: For any Ricky Carmichael fans, he was there to show the riders the course!
