If you follow a lot of blogs, you’ll probably see that I am way out of the loop on this way (and way behind the trend!).
I received
a few months ago before the re-brand fiasco when I was going to make some positive changes to my life. Unfortunately, with the drama that ensued shortly thereafter and the on and off drama since then (I swear, the recent drama will definitely be making it to post – or maybe a novel?) I am behind, but I am excited to have been reminded to pull this bad boy back out – especially with my current weight program!

I’m not going to lie to you. When I got the book, I flipped through it. I saw that there were different exercises for me to do to get active, but I was not motivated at that time so I just pushed it aside. I guess Dustin would say that my mindset was not in the right place!
Now that I have found my motivation again, I have pulled the book back out to take a closer look at some of the exercises to get me moving.
I’ve actually read the book (finally) and have bookmarked areas. I’ve been using Fit Moms for Life as a tool during my current weight loss program. I figure if Dustin works with moms, who better than to get tips from for my weight loss, right?
Fit Moms for Life focuses on five pillars of fitness – mindset, nutrition, strength training, burst training and environment.
The book delves deeper into the importance of mindset and how to change the mindset that you have. Clearly, when I first picked up the book months ago, my mindset was not in a positive place. I can certainly say that my mindset has changed and I feel much more healthy and positive with a new mindset!
Setting goals is another important factor addressed in the book. I am good with long term goals, but I fail at short term goals. Dustin explains how to set goals and helps think short term and long term.
One area I was very eager to check out now that I have my hands back on the book, is what Dustin found suitable for calorie intake when trying to lose weight. With my current program, there have been questions as to what we should be consuming for calories. I have ranged anywhere from 1219 calories to 1880 calories. I still haven’t found a good place calorie wise, but Dustin recommends staying below 1500 calories (as a woman) to lose weight.
Fit Moms for Life has an entire section on nutrition. I was happy to see there are recipes in there that will help me on my current program as Dustin is all about health. There are also a slew of guidelines that educate on nutrition such as what to buy organic, what to eat and when to eat it, etc. There is also a section on healthy snack ideas!
Throughout the book there are “success” stories of different women.
I think this book is great whether you are just starting out on your own weight loss journey or you need so reassurance on a program that you are currently doing (such as myself!)
Fit Moms for Life is for moms. Whether you are a new mom or have been a mom for a while, if you are looking for education on losing weight (or even maintaining weight), Fit Moms for Life is for you!
