HALO SleepSack: A Must For All Babies

Disclosure: I was provided a HALO SleepSack in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are 100% my own.

When babies are born, the first thing the nurses do after cleaning the baby up is wrap them up in their little hospital blankets in a swaddle. While I understand the babies love the tight, comforting feeling of the swaddle, our babies either (a) never stay swaddled or (b) someone messes the swaddle up and mommy or daddy would get all caught up in the blanket.

With Lil Miss, it was no exception. It didn’t take her very long to learn how to kick out of the swaddle so she was free and it was only a matter of minutes before we were all tangled in the darned blanket.

Lucky for us, we were provided a

HALO has two different types of the SleepSack – the SleepSack and the SleepSack Swaddle (I also learned that the SleepSacks go up to 4T/5T for the bigger kids!)

The point of the SleepSack is that it is a sack that you place baby in and zip it up (zipper zips from top to bottom so that you can unzip easily in the middle of the night for diaper changes without having to remove baby from the actual sack). This allows baby (and mommy) a restful night sleep without having to worry about loose blankets being in the bed with baby and worry about interference with breathing. (Lil Miss appears to like the fact that she can still freely move her legs while in the SleepSack and I like that it still keeps her just the right temperature at night time without the need for blankets!)

The SleepSack Swaddle is the same as the SleepSack with the addition of an extra piece of fabric that you can swaddle around the upper portion of baby’s body allow them to feel the tight, comfort of a swaddle while still being in the actual sack.

I truly love our HALO SleepSack and will be recommending them to all of our friends that are having or have recently had babies. (It will now be my #1 baby shower gift!) I feel so much better knowing that not only does she not have blankets in her bed, but that she is still warm and that the HALO SleepSacks have various sizes that she can continue to wear for quite a few years!

About the HALO® Safer Way to Sleep Initiative:

HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® wearable blankets have become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. That is 1.5 million births getting first-hand, in-hospital experience with the HALO SleepSack Swaddle and safe sleep practices! Leading health organizations agree that modeling proper baby care in the hospital is the single biggest influence on how parents care for their baby at home. HALO Innovations also offers free Safe Sleep Practices kits to childbirth educators to help further the cause of SIDS prevention.

Unfortunately, the hospital I delivered at did not have this, but I would love to see them carry the SleepSacks in the near future as I think they are a great “need” for all new and existing parents. (And they’re priceless when it comes to the life of your little one!)
