Joe is still in a lot of pain. He is maxed out on his pain medication and is needing to learn to work through the pain. They are going to take a look and see if his shoulder has shifted and if they need to do surgery on it. They were able to do surgery on his right tibia, but his ankles were too swollen. They are hoping the swelling goes down and they can operate on both of them next week.

Carrie is breathing on her own and talking! She has been removed from the ventilator and they have been slowly removing tubes from her body as she can handle it. Her surgery on her upper spine/neck went well. She is now recovery to do surgery on her lower back/spine next week. They put in something around her heart to prevent blood clots getting to her heart.

It sounds as though they are both doing well and they have taken Joe (in his hospital bed) up to see Carrie- something they said they have never done. They have been able to hold hands and talk.

An account has been set up at Wells Fargo for them and their girls. You can go to any Wells Fargo to donate to the Joe & Carrie Wiita Family Benefit. I am still working on an auction so if you are interested in donating a service or product, I am still hoping to get that off the ground. All funds will be deposited into that account upon completion of the auction.
