I have two wonderful children.

My daughter starts kindergarten in a week and a half and I am freaking out! (I’m the kind of parent that wants them to stay kids forever and ever and never grow up! It’s bad enough that she’s 5 going on 6!)

Do they have to grow up? And why so darn quickly!? Seems like just yesterday she was born and now I am getting ready to send her off to a full day of school, five days a week!?

Fortunately, I will have Buddy at home with me, but still – that is going to be a big change for our entire family!

In addition to adjusting to her going to school, I have to adjust to the whole school schedule thing. Back home, school started the Tuesday after Labor Day (September) and ended the second Thursday of June. Down here, school starts like the second Wednesday (who starts school mid week!?) of August and ends at the end of May.

And the hours!? She starts school at 7:40am! She has to be on school grounds at 7:30am! And then she gets out at 2:15pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, but every Wednesday she gets out at 1:45pm. What the heck!? Back home, I don’t think anyone started before 8am! (Okay, maybe high school started at like 7:45am) but seriously! And Wednesday early release!? So bizarre!

How am I going to handle those crazy hours and her leaving me!?

How did you handle it when your first born went to kindergarten? Any advice, because I’m going to need it!
