Describe your most embarrassing moment…
Really, do I have to?
Honestly, I’m actually kind of glad I’m a day late on this because I really had to think about this one.
With my anxiety, I get embarrassed really easy, but it’s usually something small and dumb and clearly unforgettable because I can’t remember anything right now, but I do recall a time in high school that was quite embarrassing for my teenage self.
I was in 10th grade, 15 years old. My best friend and I had taken my mom’s van the weekend prior for a joy ride to visit some friends. My mom had gone out and my sister’s weren’t home either so taking the van was no big deal.
The following weekend, we did it again. My mom was out, but my sisters were home, in bed, asleep. Or were supposed to be.
We took the van, went to one friend’s house and then left there to go to a guy’s house who I was friends with, but who I had a crush on forever (and he knew it). We left his house and were on the way to the mall – him driving (note none of us had a license and we were all under 16) – when I look over from the passenger seat to see my best friend’s dad driving next to us, half hanging out of his truck window, waving his fist and yelling.
Needless to say, we pulled over to get an earful from my best friend’s dad and my mom who eventually showed up with her boyfriend. My mom’s boyfriend ended up taking the guy home, my best friend had to go with her dad and my mom drove me home.
I have to say, I was quite embarrassed for all of that to unfold in front of the guy I was head over heels for.
Fortunately, my best friend and I can laugh about it today!
