Buggy and Buddy started school a week ago already. While I enjoy the quiet and one on one time with Lil Miss, I do miss spending the days with my bigs too, which is why weekend meals together are such a big deal to me. We spend the weekends together making up time for the week they were at school (and away from me!)
I am usually getting their school gear together during breakfast; lunch I now eat alone while the bigs are at school; and then we eat a family dinner that now feels to rushed between school, homework, our work, and then bedtime routine (bedtime is 7am during the school year since they wake up before the sun!) Weekends around here are my time to spend with the kids and share every meal together and now I can do that and raise money for the kids’ school. (Yes, I’m a little selfish when it comes to my time with my kids!)
Safeway and Tyson have teamed up for Safeway Back to School and Tyson’s Project A+ Program to raise money for schools so that now when I enjoy my weekends with my bigs, I can eat a delicious lunch and raise money for their school – win win!
When you buy participating Tyson products marked with the special Safeway Back to School tag, $0.24 will be donated to the school – for each tag!
It’s super easy.
Head on over to the Tyson Project A+ Program website.
From there, you can enroll your school (if it’s not already enrolled), look up your school (to see if it’s already enrolled), get a redemption form, or see what Tyson products are participating.
The first thing I did was look up my school. Unfortunately, my children’s school wasn’t already registered, BUT, I was able to go to “enroll now” and add my children’s school. (It was beyond super easy and you can find a screen shot of the enroll now screen in my Google + album!)
Using the participating product list, I was able to seek out a general idea of what products to purchase when I went to the store and then headed to Safeway for some shopping! (You can see more of my shopping trip here and see my Tyson overboard too! What can I say? I’m a huge Tyson chicken product fan!)
I literally stocked up. I love Tyson chicken nuggets (and I like being a kid so I buy the regular and the dinosaur shaped ones because I can!); Buggy loves their chicken patties; we love using the grilled chicken strips for cooking (they work great in fajitas, salads, and stir fry); hubby and Buggy both love wings; and I’m dying to try the honey battered chicken tenders (do those not sound amazing!) – we went crazy overboard!
When we finish our chicken products, we’ll be able to cut out the Back to School tag and send them to Tyson with the Redemption Form so that Tyson can mail the kids’ school a check. (And you can be sure I’m telling my family and friends to save those tags for me when they buy their Tyson products too!)
Other Ways to Spend the Weekend Together
Aside from eating our Tyson lunch together, there are other things we do together that don’t include food!
Movie Days – Everyone needs a day to relax every now and then. We like to stay in our jammies and watch movies to relax from a long week.
Park Days or Splash Pads – It’s a great way to burn off some energy, have fun and get your sillies out!
Playdates! We love to catch up with our friends on the weekends!
Crafting – Whether it be paper and markers crafting or crafting in the kitchen! It’s a fun way to still get their wheels turning, but spend some quality time together making memories!
Game day – spending the entire day learning new games (Mancala) or playing our favorite board games (CandyLand and Chutes and Ladders)!
