In some states, summer is starting wind down. In other states, such as my own, summer
vacation
is winding down, but summer the season still has at least a month to go.
Regardless of where you are and if summer is ending or still going; enjoy
and some delicious fruit (or fruit pie) pairings.
I am definitely not what you would consider a wine connoisseur. I am still what I would describe as a newbie and refer to my wine friends when I have questions (which is all the time!)
Lucky for me, CK Mondavi sent me a few bottles of wine with some recommended pairings that worked out fabulously!
We pair the
with a few of my favorite berries – strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries – and made a sweet kabob. If I were back home, I would consider a rhubarb cake as a pair. (I have never had rhubarb pie, but it was recommended as a match. As a Minnesota girl who grew up with rhubarb in the back yard; I have only ever had cake!)
If you are not into the White Zinfandel; you can try the Pinot Grigio with some nectarine, pear, peach, honeydew melon, or cantaloupe in a delicious fruit salad. If you are having friends over, a key lime pie would be a scrumptious match.
If you are into the darker fruits – plums, blackberries, cherries, or blueberries; pair it with a Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit not in season? Warm up a delicious blackberry or blueberry pie.
No matter what your preference (the fruit, the pie or the wine), CK Mondavi has you covered.
CK Mondavi wines are the the only American made and grown wines in the “supermarket wine under $10” category and the only wine to be Made in USA Certified. They have the perfect summer wines to keep reliving your summer.
I’m thinking when it’s negative degrees and snowing, create your own summer haven with some delicious fruit pies and some wine for the perfect night in!
Established in the 1940s, CK Mondavi remains a family-owned business that has thrived for four generations to produce fine wines. Peter Mondavi Sr. who is 100 years old continues to run the winery and his son Marc and his wife Janice help him in this endeavor. Janice and Marc have 4 daughters, 2 of whom work for the winery. It’s a true family-run business.
Since I’m still new to the whole wine experience, tell me. What is your favorite wine and what is your favorite thing to pair with it?
