Good Morning America contributor Tory Johnson truly believed that she would live happily ever if only she could lose weight. She seemed to be well on her way to that ever-lasting joy after losing 62 pounds in a year–a journey she detailed in her inspirational #1 New York Times bestseller The Shift. But as her initial euphoria began to subside, Tory realized that other areas in her life could use improvement as well. Buoyed by her success in weight loss, Tory began to apply the principles she had learned through The Shift to these other areas–work, relationships, money, and more–with the same patient tenacity. To her joy she soon saw that her Shift had only begun! In Shift for Good Tory delivers her remarkable results: how doors opened, relationships deepened, opportunity abounded in every direction–and all through taking small, simple, persistent actions.

We have been talking about this a lot lately. You want to make a drastic change so you do something drastic, but you, your attitude, your view – they don’t shift with the change. When you don’t make a shift to change, you end up back to square one.
An example that we literally just discussed last night was weight loss surgery. Now, I am not judging anyone who does it. It is not my place to judge and I don’t have a problem with people doing it, but even with weight loss surgery, you need to shift. You need to shift your attitude, your behavior, your habits.
No matter what it is in your life, you have to shift. Period.
What I liked about reading Tory’s book was Tory’s personality. She isn’t drab and boring. The book is practical, but her personality makes it fun to read and fun to hear her story, her tips, her advice.
While I turned to Shift for Good for more of a weight loss goal, I believe the concept and tips can really be utilized in any area. It is all about the shift.
