I don’t know about at your house, but when I think “spaghetti sauce”; the only brand that comes to mind is Ragu. Ever since I was young, it has always been Ragu. Even today in my own home with my own family, it is spaghetti and homemade meatballs with Ragu.
My kids are absolute pasta lovers so spaghetti is a frequent meal for dinner at our home and while we use Ragu on our spaghetti; hubby makes a killer homemade meatball to accompany it!
Ragu is a family recipe has been handed down from generation to generation starting with the founder, Assunta Cantisano. There are no artificial flavors, no high fructose corn syrup. Just slowly simmered farm grown ingredients to add layers of flavor. Ragu has been trusted by many families since 1937.
Ragu is a sauce to be celebrated and to be used make your own traditions!
Our family has a lot of holiday traditions, but are slowly starting to make our own every day, family traditions.
One of our traditions is cooking together as a family and handing down family recipes. Since moving away, I don’t have access to a lot of my family recipes from growing up. Every now and then I can get them from one of my sisters or my mom, but we have been making our own recipes and recipe box for our kids to cook from.
One of those recipes is of course, spaghetti and homemade meatballs with Ragu!
1 pound ground Italian sausage, mild
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
Dash of salt & pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 package of frozen spinach
Place all ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix together by hand.
Roll mixture together into 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch balls.
Pan fry meatballs until golden brown all the way around.
Finish baking on a baking sheet, in the oven, at 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes.
Hubby’s homemade meatball recipe is a great addition to our spaghetti noodles and Ragu pasta sauce and will be a great recipe to teach the kids and pass down through our family.
