Mama Does It All and boy does she! Her blog is filled with tons of information!

One thing I am most jealous of is other bloggers who do “tutorial” type posts about blogging. I have a vision of doing them on Life as Leels, but I don’t feel like I’m ‘privileged’ enough to do them. I mean, I’ve been blogging for about 10 months now and I have knowledge that I have picked up, but I feel like I’m not ‘experienced’ enough to share those types of posts. So instead, I enjoy reading the posts of more experienced bloggers and improving my blogging!

Mama Does It All shares Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Start A Blog. She makes some very valid points to think about before starting a blog, but one of them made me chuckle.

“Are you thick-skinned?”

One wouldn’t think that is a problem being a blogger, but you’d be surprised. Not everyone agrees with you (shocking, I know!) You may blog about something that someone else doesn’t like. Shoot, some people are just plain mean and can make any blog post you write and leave a comment saying something hurtful (I’ve seen it happen!) One blogger I know has recently been bashed by people telling her that she’s “perfect”. Some of you may not think this is bashing, but when you know damn well that you are not perfect and that you have struggled or that people are disgusted by you because they think you’re perfect – it can hurt. The things they say to you or about you – they hurt.

What was the saying growing up? Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me? Screw that. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt more than sticks and stones any day of the week. They just do. And once they’re said, they can’t be taken back.

So just remember, if you are thinking about starting a blog, you will probably catch some jerks who say mean things. Just remember to put on your thick skin and don’t pay attention to them. They’re just jealous anyway (right? ‘Cuz that’s what I tell myself!)
