I love giving books to children for gifts, including my own kids.
My tradition is to give an outfit, an education item (such as a book) and a fun item.
I jumped at the chance to review this book!
In Tell Me A Story: 250 Great Books for Kids Grace Sandford takes the guesswork out of choosing great books for your kids. She introduces you and your children to 250 great authors, reviewing a selection of classic and contemporary favorites that you can trust.
This time saving guide recommends 50 great books for each of five age groups, from babies right up to early teens; books that will educate, entertain and inspire. As a useful reference for busy moms and dads, a great baby shower gift
for first-time parents, or to keep up to date with current trends in
children`s literature, Tell Me A Story: 250 Great Books for Kids is a
welcome addition to any library.
With sections including the best bedtime books, chapter books, read-out-loud and read alone books, Grace Sandford’s concise reviews get straight to the point, explaining why each book will appeal to kids and motivate them to read more, and more and more!
Grace Sandford is first and foremost a mother who truly loves reading and Tell Me A Story: 250 Great Books for Kids is for anyone like her who wants to pass on a love of reading to the next generation.
It’s for parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, godparents and anyone who appreciates that helping a child to develop a passion for reading at a young age is a real gift!
I think this is a great resource!
The book is broken down into 5 age categories – birth to age 2; age 3 to 5; age 6 to 8; age 9 to 11; and age 12 to 15. Each age category has 50 book recommendations.
The book recommendations include the book title, the author, the publish date, and a description/review of the book.
I found books that I had read, books that I love, books that I have already purchased for my children, and books that I want to purchase for my children.
I highly recommend this as a great “handy tool” to have for gift giving seasons – it gives great ideas of books to purchase from birth to age 15 – what more could one ask for!
