At the beginning of November, we hosted an event and tried a new recipe to share with our friends…
Turkey Wraps with Healthy Ones Deli Meat
We are big on sandwiches in our house and when it came to using
and something we could share, the first thing we did was look for close to sandwiches, but not a sandwich!
Hence, turkey wraps!
For the ingredients you will need…
Tortillas – plain, spinach or any other flavor your prefer. Depending on how many people you are expecting and how many other dishes you will have available, one package of 8-10 tortillas should suffice. We planned on approximately 10-15 people with at least 2 or 3 other dishes so one pack of 10 tortillas worked well for us.
Cream cheese – again, plain or flavored depending on your preference. We went with plain.
Sliced or shredded cheese – flavor is dependent on your. We used sliced provolone. You could use any sliced or you could use shredded cheddar or colby jack, just for ideas!
Lettuce – we used Romaine lettuce. I liked the leafy greens of it, but the veins were crunchy. If you like crunchy, great. If not, I would just use the leafy green.
Tomatoes – slice the tomatoes as thin or thick as you prefer. Hubby sliced ours and then sliced them in half so he was only laying down half slices, all in a row, across all of the tortillas.
Healthy Ones Deli Meat – depending on your
, they have pre-sliced lunch meat or you can get sliced to order lunch meat. Our location only had the sliced to order option so we used oven roasted, sliced to order turkey.
Now to create your masterpiece!
Layout 3 tortillas, overlapping the edges. In the end, you are going to be wrapping everything into one large wrap so you want them to overlap so nothing falls out!
Once you have laid out and overlapped your tortillas, spread your cream cheese across all of your tortillas.
Once your cream cheese is spread out, you can do this one of two ways. If you are using sliced cheese; lay your cheese out. If you are using shredded cheese, I would recommend laying out your leafy lettuce.
If you laid out your sliced cheese, next you will want to lay out your leafy lettuce. If you laid out your lettuce, next lay out your shredded cheese. (In theory, you could layer this however you want, but I found it easiest to do it this way.)
Layout your half sliced tomatoes. Have each end touching the next or slightly overlap, all the way across the tortillas.
Add a slice or two of Healthy Ones deli meat across all the rest of your ingredients.
You’ll want the entire thing to be spread across most of the tortillas because the next step is to roll it all up like one giant wrap. (If I would have thought ahead, I would have gotten a picture of this process!)
Slice the giant wrap into smaller “wrap” sizes. You can place the slices into a container with lid, or keep the slices in a large wrap form and wrap the entire thing in tin foil.
This was a great dish to bring with and tasted delicious! There are so many different variations that can be used based on your preferences! I can see adding bacon or avocados to the wrap to making it extra delicious! It definitely leaves plenty to the imagination!!
