WAHM Cloth Diapers with Upcycle Baby Beautique – Life as Leels

Lil Miss is cloth diapered and I have yet to find that perfect diaper (or brand) that I really like. There are bits and pieces about different cloth diapers that I like, but there are also bits and pieces to every diaper that I don’t like. So when Upcycle Baby Beautique asked me if I would review one of her diapers and share it, I jumped at the idea.

My Thoughts:

First and foremost, I have to be honest – I have no clue what type of diaper I received other than it is a pocket. I am not sure what the lining is. All I know is that it is a pocket, it came with an insert, but I have been using our charcoal bamboo inserts and I have had no issues.

Being a pocket diaper, it was easy to stuff. Something that is high on my importance list. I have a few diapers that really are a pain in the butt to stuff and despise wash days when I have to stuff them. This diaper from UBB is one that I sneak into my pile because it is easy to stuff so I don’t mind doing it.

My CBI insert fits in this pocket diaper no issue.

I loved the fabric and the pattern and love that I can do custom with UBB. I already have a request in for a Betty Boop diaper, just have to find the fabric!

The one complaint hubby had about the entire diaper was the fabric. Because we are new to cloth diapering, we are used to certain things that clearly, not all diapers will have (and we know this).

The cloth diapers we currently have been using have stretch to them. We can stretch them across her little belly for a tighter fit if needed whereas this cloth diaper did not have any stretch to it.

I guess I shouldn’t say it was really a complaint. It was something he noticed and wasn’t used to. I personally felt that the fit was great as is so the fact that it wasn’t stretchy didn’t bother me, but I did notice it the first time I used it. (And for the record, I have used this diaper probably three times now and hubby has used it at least twice. It’s one of the first ones I go for after being washed!)

I loved the diaper around Lil Miss’ chubby thighs. It was a perfect fit. It was snug so i didn’t have to worry about leaks coming out.

Of all the times she has worn this particular diaper, she has not had any accidental leaks (something I don’t think I can say for any of our other diapers – there always seems to be one leak per day at some point!)

And the overall fit was perfect as well! I know she still has room to grow in it because the top is snapped down lower still so we can still unsnap that and get plenty of use out of it!

One last thing… Upcycle Baby Beautique cloth diapers run roughly $20-$24. Initially, I thought that price was high (then again, I had never purchased a work at home mom diaper before and my entire stash was purchased through co-ops anyway so I purchased all of mine well below retail price. An $8 cloth diaper seems expensive to me!) But, now that I have tried this diaper and really, really like this diaper – I can see spending $20-$24 on a cloth diaper. I am confident that this diaper will be one that lasts us quite some time, it fits great, it’s cute, it hasn’t leaked on me, and it appears to be well made and tough!

I am definitely a new fan of Upcycle Baby Beautique’s cloth diapers and will be purchasing more in the future! (And I will share when I find fabric for my custom Betty Boop one!)
