Earn Money for Your Child’s School with Schoola
Earlier in the week, I had seen a fellow parent make a comment about disliking the fundraising methods the schools use for making money for the school.
Honestly, I can’t say that I blame her. Her child’s school was doing candy bars at the time. Not exactly a winner in my opinion either, but I also understand, a school has to do what a school has to do!
When I was introduced to
a couple of months ago, I was shocked at what a brilliant idea it was!
Launched in San Francisco in 2012, Schoola was founded by Stacey Boyd, who is a parent, former teacher and a principal, to create new opportunities for raising money for school programs that foster children’s creativity. She recognized that art, music, physical education, and foreign language are essential for kids; yet schools across the country are consistently experiencing funding cuts for these indispensable programs. Schoola provides a much needed solution— enabling parents to donate their children’s pre-loved clothes to the online store at Schoola.com and then 40% of each sale is donated to the school of their choice. Over 300 schools all across the U.S. have received the proceeds from these clothes and Schoola continues to develop innovative ways to raise funds for a continuously expanding network of schools.
is a super easy to use and navigate website where you can shop for girl and boy clothes, ages 1 through 13+ years.
I was able to do some browsing and shopping for all three kids and certain dollar amounts were designated to certain schools.
When you are looking at an article of clothing, it will tell you the article name; what category you are shopping in; a short description of the article with the ‘deal’; the style; the material; the color; the condition (new, good, blemished, etc) as well as any issues with the article; the size; how much the item retails for; how much you can purchase it for; how much money will go to what organization; and then recommendations of more clothing.
I love that you can purchase clothes for less money (I am all about saving money especially on kids clothes) but while shopping, I am earning money for my school (or other schools).
Additionally, you can get a bag from Schoola and donate clothes to the site or if your school is signed up with Schoola, you can donate the clothes to your school to earn money for your school (the whole point!)
Currently, our school is signed up but doesn’t appear to be active so I am excited to join our PTO and get our Schoola active and get clothes listed to earn our school and our kids some money!
Right now, when you sign up for Schoola, you can earn 25% off your first order. Additionally, I have a promo code for you to use the entire month of October –
fallforschoola
expires October 31, 2014
Be sure to see if your school is signed up and if not, get them to join the program so you can shop and earn money where it counts – for childrens’ education!
