Homemade Country Fried Steak
One of favorite meals to make at home is homemade kitchen fried steak. This recipe is what hubby has used to make his recipe. All measurements are based on preference and taste. There are no actual measurements for this recipe.
Ingredients:
Pre-tenderized, skillet steaks (enough to feed everyone; we usually make 6)
Salt
Pepper
Flour
Paprika
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Seasoning Salt
Eggs
Milk
Blended oil
Directions:
Salt and pepper the steaks as desired.
In a cast iron skillet, fill half way with blended oil and turn heat to medium.
Mix eggs and milk to create a egg wash in one bowl. You will want enough egg wash to coat all of your steaks.
Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoning salt, salt and pepper (or seasonings of your choice) in a second bowl. Again, you will want enough flour mixture to coat all of your steaks two times.
Cover the steak with the flour mixture, then emerge in the egg wash mixture and then cover again with the flour mixture.
Gently so as not to splash and burn yourself, put the steak into the heated up oil.
Let steak start to brown and then flip it over until brown.
Once it is done cooking, remove from oil and put on a rack to cool. Sprinkle with a little salt.
To make the gravy:
Using equal parts of oil left over from the cooking pan and flour mixture.
Brown the flour and then add milk a little at a time, stirring continuously, until the gravy is thin. Let it come to a boil and gravy will thicken. Add more flour or milk depending on desired consistency.
