We all know, every year is different from the last when it comes to holidays. We always have that favorite gift or favorite memory that sticks with us even after all the chaos has died down.

This year was no exception in our household!

Buddy (who is 4) was totally into the Christmas spirit this year! His facial expressions and exclamations were hilarious! He would say ‘thank you’ in great pleasure

before

opening his gifts. His eyes would be wide and a big grin plastered on his face when he opened every present. And there were several “just what I wanted” or “I always wanted that” that would follow the gift opening!

Buggy (who turns 7 today) apparently did some shopping with grandma this year so mommy and daddy each had a gift (and back story).

A few weeks ago, Buggy had done the monkey bars at school and came home with her hands full of blisters – mostly popped blisters. That night at bed time, after her shower, we put on some anti-bacterial cream and daddy cut his socks to make little gloves for her to prevent the cream from getting all over her and her bed. Daddy’s Christmas present from Buggy? New socks to replace the ones he had to cut up.

I have always been a fan of butterflies and she apparently found a shirt that was perfect – “she just had to get it” for me (a direct quote from grandma). My present from Buggy was a beautiful black shirt with butterflies.

I love that she is at the age where she can pick out gifts for others and she has a reason – a story – for giving. She really does have a big heart.

By far, those were the best memories (and presents) a mommy could ask for. Although I do have to say that my sister in law’s present of dinner, movie, and coffee date night with hubby while she keeps both kids overnight is definitely a close second
