DIY No Sew Blanket

My younger sister actually started me on these no sew blankets! She has made one for each of my kids – and me – and I felt that they were made with love. (She made each one specially for each of us with patterns that fit each of us so they are really special to me and my kids.)

They are super easy to make and make for great, heartfelt gifts.

Now you can make your own!

What You Need:

2 pieces of the same size fleece – Depending on the recipient of the blanket, the size will vary. Buggy has a small one from when she was a baby, Buddy has one that is bigger than Buggy’s but smaller than mine, and mine is adult sized. The one I made my sister in law started with 6 feet of fleece. Just be sure both pieces are cut evenly.

You can do the same color or pattern on each side or use two totally different colors/patterns. The blanket in the picture is Buggy’s that my sister made. The top is pink baby patterns and the bottom is plain pink. Buddy’s is blue, green, white, and yellow striped on top with light blue on the bottom. Mine has Betty Boop on one side and black on the bottom. The one I made my sister in law was black on the bottom and white on top. Baby Girl’s is purple with butterflies on the top and pink on the bottom. You can mix and match to your heart desires (and making it personal for the recipient.)

You will need sharp scissors – you will be cutting through the fleece.

We used metal binder clips to help keep the blankets together as we worked.

Directions:

1. Place the 2 blankets together – patterns on the outsides – and clip them together with the black binder clips. (When putting them together, you want to be sure that what you want seen is facing out.)

2. Begin making 1 1/2 inch cuts in the blankets approximately 1 inch apart on one side of the blankets. You can cut it all at one time if you prefer, but we found it easier to work one side at a time.

3. Tie the top blanket and the bottom blanket together, using the 1 inch pieces of fabric that you cut.

4. Continue cutting and tying the remaining sides of the blankets until the two pieces are now one as a blanket with frills on each side – held together by the knots that you tied.

It is time consuming, but the finished product is fabulous!

I have made a printable version for you to use as well:
